Jennifer’s poem

As I sat there talking to Leo  
Eyes closed, I smelt his teddy bear  
Unsure now if it smells of him or the hospital 
Either way, it takes me ‘there’ 

That hug and inhale  
Tugs at my heart 
So simple and pure 
Taking me back to the start 

Hoping he can hear me 
Sometimes unsure of what to say 
Except; “I miss you” and “love you”  
“Each and every day” 

I tell him I’d give anything to see him 
If I could have changed things, I would 
I’m so sorry I couldn’t save him 
I’d swap places if I could  

I love you more than words can say 
You’re with me and daddy forever 
This isn’t “until we meet again” 
As we will always be together.
