New ARC study day for students June 2016

ARC have redeveloped our popular Day 1 study day, 'Communication Skills and Delivering Difficult News' especially for students.

The day will give students the opportunity to explore the implications of antenatal screening and the diagnosis of fetal anomaly, through theoretical learning, group-work and discussion. The training affords students an opportunity to develop the skills needed to give the best quality of care to parents. Emphasis is placed on the parent's perspective of antenatal screening and the experience of the healthcare professional.

Attendees of Students Day 1 training will:

  • Learn what ARC provides
  • Understand the parents' experience of screening and diagnosis
  • Develop effective listening during times of stress and crisis
  • Explore ways of delivering difficult news
  • Support and inform the decision-making process
  • Become aware of attitudes, values and preconceptions
  • Become aware of aspects of grief and bereavement after fetal loss
  • Explore the use of language and techniques

The first Day 1 for students will take place on Saturday 25th June 2016.
