Fundraise

ARC is a small charity, working in a field which does not easily attract funding, so the efforts of our fundraisers are vital to provide the resources we need to be able to continue to give information and support to parents.

Over half of our income comes from donations and fundraising - we depend on you so that parents can depend on us. By becoming an ARC fundraiser, you will ensure that parents are always able to turn to ARC for impartial support and information when they are told there are difficulties in their pregnancy.

How to get involved

Have our fundraisers inspired you? Fundraising for ARC can be as easy as making a single or regular donation. But what if you want to get more involved? From marathons to cake sales, sponsored swims to skydives, the sky really is the limit when it comes to fundraising for us! Here are some ideas to get you started:

Starting simply:

  • Channel your inner domestic goddess and whip up some baked goodies for a cake sale.
  • Contact local shops and business for prizes and hold a raffle.
  • Clear out your clutter and raise money for ARC at the same time with a jumble sale.
  • Something else in mind? Contact the office on 0207 713 7356 or email info@arc-uk.org and see how we can help!

At work:

  • Hold a dress-down day, with contributions to take part going to ARC.
  • Work with someone who's always turning the air blue? Get an office swear box and donate the fines to ARC!
  • Ask if your company has a matched giving scheme and potentially double your gift to ARC.
  • Plan an office sports day: not only can you raise money for ARC, but it is an excellent team building event too.

With friends:

  • Go on a sponsored walk with a group of friends.
  • Find your cleverest friends and hold a quiz night.
  • Turn your weekly catch up into a coffee morning event for ARC.
  • Or, why not take part in something sporty together?

A sporty challenge:

  • Whether you're just starting out, or looking for your next challenge; there's a running event to suit you, from fun runs to ultra-marathons.
  • Or, splash your way to success with a sponsored swim.
  • Get on your bike for ARC and take part in a cycle race.
  • More of a thrill seeker? You could skydive or bungee-jump for ARC.

Share your news

Social media is a great way to generate interest in your fundraising for ARC and to become part of our fundraising community. Start by liking the ARC Facebook page and following ARC on Twitter. We'd love to hear about your fundraising progress, it's also a great way of finding out about the fundraising achievements of other ARC members.

Profile raising

Even if you're not able to actively fundraise for ARC, you can still support us by helping to raise our profile.

Why should I do this?

Though ARC is a very small charity, it supports parents and healthcare professionals throughout the UK. As well as giving non-directive information about antenatal screening, we are unique in providing a specialised range of support resources, which are a lifeline for those with an affected pregnancy.

When a pregnancy goes well, there are lots of resources and support services for expectant parents. However, when there are problems in a pregnancy, it becomes very difficult for parents to know where they can find unbiased information and support. While many hospitals do know about ARC, and pass on our information to parents who are facing problems, we want to ensure that all parents are given our details when they need them.

How can I help raise ARC's profile?

  • You could find ARC on social media, and share our updates. We're on Twitter and Facebook.
  • You could purchase some of ARC's parent handbooks for your local hospital.
  • You could nominate ARC as a recipient of your employer's charitable foundation or 'Charity of the Year' scheme. Learn more.
