ARC opposes amendment to the Serious Crime Bill

ARC is opposed to the amendments to the Serious Crime Bill which have been proposed by Fiona Bruce MP.

The proposed amendment will restrict the reproductive choice of women who are at risk of having a child affected by a serious inherited condition, and may prevent them from seeking the support they need from doctors in fear of prosecution.

The amendment also sets a dangerous precedent in prioritising the fetus over the wellbeing of the pregnant woman.

ARC, along with Genetic Alliance and other pro-choice charities, is urging MPs to vote against this proposed amendment.
