Become a Member
As a member of ARC you will receive full details of the ARC support services that may be appropriate to your needs, regular mailings of the ARC newsletter, invitations to parents’ meetings and continued support for as long as you want it. It is easy to become a member. All you need to do is call the helpline or send us an email, giving us a little information about your circumstances and your name and address. Any information you give us will remain confidential.
Helpline
Many ARC members find the helpline a valuable source of ongoing emotional support and advice. Trained staff are available to speak to from Monday to Friday, between 10am and 5.30pm.
Online Forum for Bereaved Parents
ARC provides a password-protected and moderated forum for its members who have had a termination for a fetal anomaly. For some parents, this is a helpful and convenient way of making contact with people who have been through similar experiences. There are separate groups within the forum for women and men. Join the forum.
Parents’ Meetings
ARC Parents’ Meetings provide an opportunity for ARC members who have had a termination to meet and spend time with others who have been through a similar experience, and who can understand some of the emotions and issues they are coping with. For details of the next meeting please contact ARC.
Support Network
ARC's Support Network volunteers are parent members who have had a termination due to fetal anomaly, who have volunteered and are trained to support others in this situation, either by phone or email.
ARC is keen to provide support that reflects a wide variety of experiences, locations, cultures and generations. If you are interested in helping other parents or grandparents in distress and would like to know more, contact ARC.
Newsletter
Members receive a newsletter three times a year. The newsletter contains stories and letters written by ARC parents about their experiences. Many parents say they have found it comforting to read about how other people in similar situations have coped with their loss. To sign up for the newsletter please contact ARC.
ARC Publications
ARC offers a number of publications for families affected by a termination for a fetal anomaly.
There are a number of other useful organisations and websites which offer information and support around bereavement, pregnancy, specific conditions and other issues. For more information please visit our links page.
