Help for Fathers
For a man who wants to be a father, pregnancy is a time of hope, with expectations for his family's future with a growing baby, a healthy child. However, every couple has a risk of conceiving a baby with an abnormality. When abnormalities are detected in an unborn baby, parents have to make the difficult decision of whether or not to continue with the pregnancy.
ARC is the only national charity that offers specialised information and support to parents facing this decision. ARC provides ongoing support to many of the 2000 families who end their pregnancies each year because an abnormality was diagnosed in their baby.
ARC also provides ongoing support to parents who choose to continue with their pregnancy. This leaflet is based on our work with fathers. It talks about some of the emotions other men have felt, and gives advice on how to cope, based on their experiences.
