Bereaved parents
The loss of a baby is devastating for any parent. Having to make difficult decisions about the pregnancy, and knowing in advance that you were going to lose your baby, can add another dimension to the emotions of your bereavement.
It can take some time to come to terms with your loss and these complex emotions. Everyone is different and there is no ‘right’ way to feel or to cope. Being given specialised information and support can help, particularly if you are feeling distressed, confused, overwhelmed or worried about the future.
- ARC has 20 years experience of helping parents who have been through a termination after a prenatal diagnosis. If you are in this situation, please contact ARC or click on 'After a Termination' in the menu on the right.
- ARC also offers support to parents who are continuing a pregnancy, including those who have been told that their baby’s chances of survival are small or that their baby will die. If you are in this situation, please contact ARC or click on 'Continuing a Pregnancy' in the menu on the right.
- ARC has recently set up an email group for bereaved parents who knew that their baby was likely to die and who continued with their pregnancy. If you would like to join this group or would like more information, please contact ARC.
If you have lost a baby in different circumstances, there are other organisations which can offer appropriate information and support. Please contact ARC or go to our links page to find out more.
